As part of Appris’ continued support within local schools to offer advice and guidance to aspiring apprentices, we attended Whitcliffe Mount School, Cleckheaton, who hosted their post 16 careers event on Friday 15th October. The aim of the event was to give students in Year 11 an insight into the various options they have upon finishing school. Post 16 providers including colleges, universities and apprenticeship providers were present to engage with students on what opportunities they offer. In attendance from the Appris Engineering Work Based Learning Team were Michael Bojczuk and Howard Bentham (pictured below). Michael Bojczuk said:
The students were a great bunch and seemed very enthusiastic about the engineering apprenticeship prospects in industry and what Appris has to offer. It was a resounding success.
The event was arranged by Ahead Partnership, a not for profit business that provides support and creates links between businesses, schools and community groups to allow businesses of all sizes to play a hands-on role in their local community.
Stephanie Gordon, Ahead Partnership’s Project Coordinator stated:
I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Michael and Howard from Appris for coming along to the post 16 event last Friday at Whitcliffe Mount. Many of the students had chosen engineering as a subject so their presence was most appreciated and feedback from the students has been really positive.
From September 2016 through to January 2017, Appris will be attending over 30 school careers events around the West Yorkshire region.
