BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering

This HNC course is designed to provide the knowledge and understanding of how advanced and innovative engineering underpins the electrical and electronic industries.

Candidates applying for this course will need a relevant Level 3 qualification, which would usually be a BTEC National in Engineering or equivalent. Mature learners may present a more varied profile of previous achievement that may include substantial work experience within the engineering environment.

You will study eight units in total.

Year One Units: 

  • Analytical Methods for Engineers
  • Engineering Science
  • Project Design, Implementation an Evaluation
  • Design Engineering

Year Two Units: 

  • Electrical and Electronic Principles
  • Utilisation of Electrical Energy
  • Combinational and Sequential Logic
  • Control Systems and Automation

The subject areas are assessed in a variety of ways including assignments, timed assessments and coursework.

From 2017 onwards, the HNC classes will include the ILM Level 2 Certificate in Effective Team Member course that is aimed at improving the skills of the students when working in and amongst teams.  For more information on the course, click here.
